Financial Literacy has been identified as one of the foremost life skills essential for the creation of wealth as well as its sustenance. It is against this background that CORE Development Initiative organized and trained youth on financial literacy. Basic modules like understanding the difference between needs and wants were covered all the way to intermediate topics like income and expenses, the money cycle, saving for long-term goals and entrepreneurship in an exciting and interactive manner. Mrs Kai Orga who was the facilitator handled topics including budgeting, credit and debt, money management and investing to be applied to their personal and business finance thereby laying the foundation for a financially savvy youth generation who will in turn create employment opportunities

The training held on the 16th April 2016, at The Be Better Centre No. 6 David Mark Street, Gudu District Abuja. The session kicked off at 9:00 am with a total of 25 youths in attendance.

In closing the session achieved the following objectives:

  • It equipped the youth with the set of skills and knowledge that allows them to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources.
  • It helped the youth afford the things they want to do in life while securing their future.
  • It gave the youth access to the financial opportunities, institutions, coaches and other resources needed to excel in their finances.
